WT 17 TAGWELL WOODS

WT Records unearths another gifted producer. Based in Hackney, East London. Tagwell Woods is a Primary school Teacher who has been privately working on some of the most emotional instrumental acid ever. The music somehow portrays a romantic suicide due to unrequited love. Imagine a man bleeding to death on a one way trip to Mars. If you cant imagine that, what if aphex did an analord record for UR? The record contains 4 tracks.

Each part has a full color jacket & label art by Marion Guillet. The series starts with slow mo freaked out Pink Floyd makes dance music from Serbia and moves on to space disco, freaked out emotional outsider house, and all the way back to wild African influenced electro dance beat. Hand picked by label head and music lover, Dj Speculator aka Willie Burns, the 3 part series will be a solid addition to any djs record bag and good enough to satisfy the collector as well. Each record will be sold separately. Collect all three!!

WT 12 Nao Katafuchi “Yumegoto”

Nao Katafuchi is a New York based Japanese artist. Living in lower Manhattan for more that 20years, Nao has made an internationally interesting mini album lost somewhere between the future and the past. All of the music was made using a semi modern groovebox, guitar, and voice. This musical combination created a new wave cyberpop atmosphere that would not be out of place in a bar in Liquid Sky, Blade Runner, or Total Recall. Trashy Japanese retro-future pop out of New york City!

WT 11 WOZ

Originally released in a highly limited pressing in 1981, this synth jazz funk soundtrack freakout record was destined for cult status. WT Records found a copy in a dirty basement complete with newspaper clippings and a business card. A search began for this multi-instrumentalist from Wilmington, Deleware. WT tracked him down through various websites and made contact with the still active musician. After several unsuccessful attempts at reissuing the record on other labels, WT Records stepped up to give this lost gem a wider release. These 9 tracks cover the whole spectrum of emotions, from schizophrenic drum machine dissonance to dreamy, soothing soundtracks. Truly a must-have cult reissue.

WT 10 ex vivian..

ex vivian is the musical project of actress Krysten Ritter. Krysten enlisted the help of WT Records to record and release this group of honest songs. All songs were written by Krysten and came to fruition when William Burnett (CEO of WT) came to visit her in Echo Park, Los Angeles. Using a simple setup of just a few instruments and a trusty sm 58 microphone, the true spirit of ex vivian was captured. No flashy gimmicks or fancy studio tricks, just simple tales of heartbreak and life recorded in the living room or her treetop apartment. Somewhere between the atmosphere of Mazzy Starr and the American twang of Stevie Nicks, the album is a pleasant surprise showcasing Krysten’s musical talent and a new direction for WT Records.

WT 09 Shawn O’Sullivan

Shawn O’Sullivan of up and coming New York New Wave bands Led er Est and Further Reductions, brings us the latest release on WT.  The easiest description would be Drop Bass Network meets Berghain dub techno meets the new sound of Amsterdam with a little bit of acid and industrial sprinkled in, but you should listen to the clips yourself to decide. Shawn takes synths, drummachines, a sequencer and some effects and records one take on a stereo track. this leaves room for wild mistakes, personal moments, and blown out sound. Its a classic techno sound that sounds like it should have been done before, but hasn’t.
